Streaming Music Guide

Hey guys, welcome to my ‘how to stream music’ or ‘Virtual Audio Cable guide

You will need:

  • XSplit – stop using xfire noobs!!
  • foobar2000 – or any media player where you can determine the sound output
  • VAC – virtual audio cable, downloadable here or you can buy it from their website here

Install VAC, once done, run ‘control panel’ from the start menu

start

You’ll be faced with a fairly intimidating control panel, don’t worry about any of the advanced settings, just choose how many cables you want in the top left. If you just want to stream music, you only need 1. Then press ‘Set’.

In foobar2000 or whatever music player you decide to use, change the audio output device to ‘Virtual Cable 1′

foobar

In xsplit or whatever streaming client you are using, choose ‘Virtual Cable 1′ as the audio input or microphone.

xsplit

Now when you play your music it will be played in great quality on your stream! This leaves you free to play your own music or have none at all since you will not be hearing the music played in foobar2000, if you wish to hear the music too then you need to run a copy of ‘Audio Repeater’ (also installed when you setup VAC and can be found in the same start menu folder as VAC)

start

Select ‘Virtual Cable 1′ as the wave in and your usual sound output in wave out (mine is Realtek HD Audio). Change the buffer to 100ms (this is the delay between when your music plays and when you’ll hear it)

repeater

Dont forget to push start! Now you should hear the music too :)
