Selling Vendor Rings for Profit

Starting with Beta Patch 16, Rings can now be purchased from the third vendor you come into contact with in New Tristram. His tab is called trinkets, so odds are he will sell rings AND amulets later after release. Just like in D2, I think it’s pretty obvious that you are going to have vendors throughout the entire game selling starter gear for each act and difficulty.

Is this a bad thing? Well, for those of you who were enjoying farming or flipping huge ticket items, this is kind of a blow to your business. But let’s look at this change beyond the limited beta. Are other items selling for nothing because vendors also sell similar items? No, because vendor gear is so much worse than what you can craft and find in the wild at later levels. So my guess is that vendors are selling the weakest rings you’re going to find in act one, and therefore it’s ok that they are no longer selling for 300,000 gold on the auction house. We weren’t going to see that in live anyway.

Possible Strategy: Selling Vendor Rings for Profit

Buy the next difficulty’s vendor gear and sell it to people who are just about to enter that difficulty. Think about it, you find vendor items in Hell that could easily beat Nightmare quality stuff. Buy from the vendor and sell to Nightmare players. That’s an easy profit, even if you’re just making a little bit, and you are still providing a service that players will be willing to pay for. Seriously, why not buy a ring from another player for a few thousand more gold than it would have cost you on the vendor? Especially if the player is saving you time having to run to the vendor over and over again until you get the right rolls?

Personally, I purchased two rings that I knew were 1,600 more gold than the vendor value. Why? Because I didn’t feel like restarting my game over and over again with no guarantee that the right rolls would show up on the vendor’s ring inventory. If you have the patience, and the bankroll to buy a bunch when you do find the right rolls, you should be able to flip them pretty easily.

I wonder if Markco ever comes up with anything that is actually worth reading, let alone paying for. His “Diablo 3 Gold Guide Blog” seems to me like a carefuly covered scam to be honest. I’ve seen Markco’s posts on dozens of different Diablo 3 sites and it is all the same (crap). Is he paying Hydra to blog here or what?

I think Markco is just making the less cautious readers believe whatever they want to believe and hear to visit his Diablo 3 Gold Guide Blog (there’s money he makes out of site traffic) and pay for his so called RMAH guide and access to forums (which I think provide no real value for anyone with half brain).

Just be careful folks dealing with this Markco guy. I’d question his credibility.

Hes actually a friend of one of the admins, figures huh.

You are entitled to your opinion. You consider this tip to be crap? Really? I made about 15k flipping rings this morning… It’s not hard to do and even an inexperience player can wrap their head around it.

This is relatively new information as well, as in less than 48 hours.

To call it crap is, well, pretty crappy. You are entitled to your opinion, but you should probably explain why easy gold is “crap.”

And for the record, it’s the smart people who buy this kind of stuff, not “the less cautious” “half-brained” folk. You know, people who have a passion for something and want to surround themselves with people who share the same passion. That’s as far from a scam as you can get.

And for the record, the things I come with ARE new and innovative, which is why I’m allowed to post here.

It sounds more like you want to surround yourself with people who PAY YOU periodical fees just to read stuff that your average Joe could either figure out himself or read somewhere else for free.

It’s just the way you express yourself which screams “obtrusive peddler” to me. You’re not a cool guy who just wants to share his nerdy findings. You post here because you want to make money off your website subscriptions and adds.

I wouldn’t care if you actually admitted the above and stopped playing the shepherd of strayed auctioneers like you do.

Did you ever try sham wow towels? I think this analogy will work well for your situation.

I used to watch those commercials and go “geese, what a load of garbage! Only half brained fools would purchase that!”

Then I heard my mom bought four of them and gave one to me. I was like… Why they hell did you do that, I told you it’s a fake marketer peddling crap!

Believe it or not, I now swear by sham wow towels. They WORK.

You’re not judge and jury. You’re also not smarter than anyone else reading this post. Let them make their own, educated minds up.

This does raise the question as to why you are currently bothering to hoard gold on a beta server which is wiped more often than a recently used buttock.

        • Markco

Hoarding? On the contrary i’m spending gold like crazy trying every strategy I can. The beta is a chance to learn, not to hoard.

          • Zing

Well, in which case, the beta probably isn’t going to be a valid model to test any form of economic strategy. People will spend more for short-term gains when there is a low level cap and frequent resetting.

A valid argument, I cannot dispute it without having the retail version to compare.

I can only say a this, there’s much to learn from studying the behavior of players, on a beta or retail.
